Fitness Consultation

In order for you to get the most out of your Fitness Consultation it is advised that you please follow the pre-consultation instructions and come prepared.

We have put together the guide below so you will know exactly what to expect from your Initial Fitness Consultation.

Pre-Consultation Instructions

Please follow these instruction prior to your fitness consultation.

  1. Have a light snack 2-3 hours prior to your appointment.
  2. Come ready to exercise: t-shirt, shorts, gym shoes, towel.
  3. Allow at least 1-1/2 hours for your visit.
  4. Do not have chocolate, soft drinks, coffee, tea, or cigarettes, for 8 hours prior to your consultation.
  5. Do not have alcohol for 24 hours prior to your consultation.
  6. Do not exercise for 12 hours before your appointment.
  7. Do not schedule any important appointments immediately following your consultation so that you will be relaxed while you are with us.

The Fitness Consultation & Assessments

The Fitness Consultation & Assessments are comprised of 5 key steps. Below we have detailed what you can expect at your Initial Fitness Consultation*

Step 1.

At the time of your registration, your Membership Coordinator will schedule an appointment for your initial consultation. At that point you will be presented with your Pro-Fitness Program Fitness Consultation Journal. Within the Journal are several pre-consultation instructions. Please follow them closely in order to ensure the accuracy of your assessment.

Step 2.

Prior to your initial appointment, please complete the health and fitness questionnaire sections A through E. If you have any questions while completing your booklet, do not hesitate to give us a call and ask for either your Membership Coordinator or the Personal Training Department. Please bring this completed booklet with you to your initial fitness consultation appointment.

Step 3.

On the day of your consultation, please arrive at the club 15-20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment. Ensure that you arrive equipped with appropriate exercise attire / workout gear to the facility. You should then inform the Member Services Department that you have an appointment for your initial consultation. Once again, please ensure that your Pro-Fitness Program Booklet is completed prior to your arrival.

Step 4.

Once changed, you will return to the Member Services area where you will be met and greeted by one of our qualified Fitness Consultants. The consultation consists of: a review of your health and fitness questionnaire; a review of your PAR-Q; a variety of assessments and measurements; an assessment on the workout floor to determine equipment knowledge; and a short demonstration of correct technique.

Step 5.

Upon completion of the consultation (body composition, aerobic capacity, exercise technique and intensity), your Consultant will provide you with the appropriate recommendations for the successful achievement of your health and fitness goals. If you have registered for the complete annual consultation program, you will receive emails or reminder cards in the mail, along with phone calls to remind you every three months of your next scheduled appointment.
