Iris Kolenski

Iris has always had a strong passion for personal fitness; beginning with many years of dance, gymnastics and cheerleading.  Iris holds both an undergraduate degree in biological sciences and Masters in human health and nutrition from the University of Guelph and is currently employed as a Biotechnology Sales Representative for a life science company.

Iris was naturally drawn to yoga with her gymnastics background and started taking classes casually at her gym a few years ago.  Shortly after, she was hooked, experimenting with different styles of yoga at several yoga studios in the area.  Some personal life challenges lead her to consider deepening her practice by studying the art of yoga through teachers training.

Iris completed her 200 hr yoga teachers training course at Kula yoga studio in March 2011 and has been teaching within her office, the Fitness Firm and surrounding studios since.  She strives to use the skills she has mastered in her training as well as her personal practice to inspire others to take on a healthier physical and mental lifestyle.  For her, yoga continues to be a life changing experience and she is passionate about sharing her love for the practice with others.  She assists in cultivating an energized practice for her students focused on integration, alignment and body/mind awareness for a disciplined and wholesome life on and off the mat.
